Job Description
Vancouver Shipyards is recruiting for Welding Apprentices. The role involves operating welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals, specialized welding, and learning the fundamental principles of the trade. Apprentices will be supported by mentors and supervisors to achieve excellence and Red Seal Certification. The position is heavily focused on compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints and welding procedures.
- Operate manual/semi-automatic welding equipment.
- Complete knowledge requirements of a Welder Foundation Program in British Columbia.
- Pass CWB FCAW All Position
- Pass CWB SMAW All Position
- Valid Marine Construction Welder Level 1 ticket (if applicable)
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work in enclosed spaces.
- Good judgment and reasoning skills.
- Teamwork and initiative
