Staff Battery Engineer

We are Sila, a next-generation battery materials company, seeking a Staff Battery Engineer to join our team in Alameda, CA. As a Battery Engineer, you will work on ushering in the next generation of batteries, leveraging your cylindrical cell experience to develop and execute comprehensive experiments and translate electrode and cell design learnings into cylindrical cell design. You will be a primary technical architect for cylindrical cell design, working with contract manufacturing partners to transfer in-house pilot line technology into mass production of cylindrical cells.

Requirements

• Experience in cylindrical cell design and familiarity with failure mechanisms
• Strong technical background, experience with lithium-ion batteries including different process steps (slurry, coating, cell design and cell tear down)
• Exceptional communication abilities with both internal groups and external customers
• Proficiency in using databases, and data analysis tools such as JMP, Python, etc.
• Ability to carefully plan and implement multiple projects simultaneously
• Well-organized and data-driven approach to problem solving and experimental design, driven by curiosity and attention to detail
• Understanding of lab safety best practices
