Police Officer Candidates are non-sworn members of the Simmons University Police and Public Safety Department who work in a team-based environment to support the Simmons University Public Safety Department and the Simmons University community by providing Public Safety services with dignity and respect. They will assist in providing a safe and secure community with the highest degrees of ethics and integrity.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (associates or bachelor degree preferred);
- Applicant must be age twenty-one (21) at the time of application;
- Must have a valid Class D operator’s license at the time of appointment;
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Massachusetts Class A Large Capacity License to Carry Firearms;
- Successful completion of all MPTC pre-academy entrance requirements;
- Successful completion of a Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) certified basic police Recruit Officer Course;
- Obtain and retain a POST (Peace Officers Standards and Training) certification;
- Obtain and retain Special State Police powers in accordance with M.G.L. ch.22 s. 63;
- Obtain and retain Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff's powers;
