Privacy/AI Counsel - 12 month contract

SmartRecruiters is seeking a Privacy/AI Counsel for a 12-month contract position. The successful candidate will serve as a subject-matter expert on AI, global privacy, and security, and provide guidance on complex legal developments, enforcement actions, and best practices. Responsibilities include post-acquisition governance, sales enablement, privacy by design, cross-functional counsel, and cybersecurity governance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of in-house experience in AI, data security, data privacy, data protection, and governance
• Proven knowledge of GDPR, European data protection laws, and EU Directives
• Deep understanding of the evolving AI landscape and complex intersection of global privacy laws and AI-driven product development
• Good understanding of Data Privacy legislation in other countries outside of the EU
• Exceptional skills in translating legal complexities into actionable business insights
• Hands-on understanding of modern infrastructure (e.g., cloud, microservices, and incident management tools)
• Experience working with Product, Engineering, and Sales Teams in a regulated environment
• CIPP/CIPM/CIPT or similar certificates preferred
• Ability to translate legal requirements into guidance for product development
• Excellent communication and summarization of complex privacy topics
• Excellent business-oriented judgment
• Fluent in English and German is a plus
