The Project Engineering Manager will join the Engineering Management practice within the Technical Professional Organization (TPO) of Engineering Services Canada, contributing to the development of the team’s strategy and overseeing the successful execution of engineering design on large, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related field with 10+ years of experience in a relevant field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering management, overseeing complex engineering projects and leading multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to obtain relevant professional designation in multiple jurisdictions across Canada
- Proven experience managing engineering execution for high-voltage transmission and substation projects, across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
- Exposure to HV, including overhead and underground system, routing line design, tower structures, and conductor selection. Knowledge of grid integration, reliability, and network planning
- Exposure to AIS and GIS, including power transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, busbars, protection and control systems, and substation automation
- Experience managing the interconnection of power generation assets (hydro, wind, solar, thermal) to the grid
- Ability to work with OEMs, suppliers, and vendors for procurement of key substation and transmission equipment, ensuring technical compliance, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery
- Experience executing both new grid infrastructure projects and upgrades/retrofits to existing substations and transmission networks, including asset refurbishment and life extensions strategies
- Understanding of construction sequencing, commissioning requirements, outage planning, and risk mitigations strategies for large scale power infrastructure projects
- Strong technical expertise and exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a relevant engineering discipline, with a deep understanding of engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences (both French and English are an asset)
- Bilingual: English French (*)
