Senior General Ledger Accountant

The Senior GL Accountant oversees general ledger activities, ensures accurate financial reporting, and maintains compliance with accounting standards. This role supports plant operations, inventory accounting, and cost structures unique to the chemical manufacturing industry.

Requirements

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain and improve close timelines and processes
• Support inventory accounting including raw materials, COGS, and finished goods
• Analyze standard vs. actual costs
• Prepare internal and external financial reports
• Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actual, prior period comparisons)
• Ensure compliance with internal control requirements
• Maintain documentation for audits and coordinate with internal/external auditors
• Support regulatory cost tracking where applicable
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows
• Prepare and review account reconciliations maintained monthly
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries for reporting
