Senior Data Scientist, Editorial & Content

The Senior Data Scientist, Editorial & Content role is a critical position that supports editorial subscription decisions through advanced data science and behavioural analysis. The role requires strong analytical rigor, the ability to operate in ambiguous newsroom environments, and the confidence to challenge assumptions with evidence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field
• Minimum 5 years applying data science in complex, real-world environments (media, subscription products, or consumer platforms preferred)
• Strong expertise in experimentation and causal inference (e.g. propensity score matching, Bayesian approaches)
• High proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern analytics workflows
• Demonstrated ability to influence non-technical stakeholders, including senior editors
• Comfort operating with imperfect data and ambiguous questions, common in editorial environments
• Strong business and editorial sensitivity: understands that not all value is immediate or easily measurable
