Job Description
Southern Power is seeking a Solar Operations Technician to operate and maintain utility scale solar photovoltaic electric systems. The position will require strong technical skills, mechanical and electrical aptitude, and the ability to work with little to no direction. The successful candidate will support multiple solar sites and may require overnight travel up to 25% of the time.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 2-year college or technical degree, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Electrical background highly preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Solar utility scale inverter maintenance experience preferred
- Strong technical background in electrical and electronic devices and equipment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work safely in all types of weather and perform physically demanding activities
