Histotechnician Certified

Join a collaborative laboratory team as a certified Histotechnician. Perform general histological duties, including preparing histologic slides for microscopic examination and diagnosis by the pathologist. Work in a fast-paced environment with consistent morning hours.

Requirements

• Collects, labels, processes and preserves tissue specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
• Prepares sections of tissue for immediate examination using frozen section technique.
• Operates computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate tissue specimens.
• Performs embedding, cutting, and staining of tissues and pathology specimens received.
• Performs basic histology special stains using manual or automated methods.
• Maintains equipment in histology and performs calibration and troubleshooting.
• Examines slides under microscope to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements.
• Performs general histological duties and cytology specimen prep work.
• May complete High Complexity Testing as outlined in 42 CFR 493.1489.
• Analyzes and records data.
• Assists in the proficiency testing program in the lab.
• Maintains competencies and continuing education.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
