Upper School Humanities Teacher

St. Anne’s-Belfield School seeks a dynamic, full-time Humanities teacher and advisor to join a highly collaborative department. The ideal candidate is a scholar-practitioner capable of bridging the gap between History and English, with a specific focus on our interdisciplinary American Studies curriculum.

Requirements

• Integrated Expertise: Experience teaching American Literature and American History, with the ability to weave together historical and literary analysis.
• Discussion-Based Pedagogy: A strong mastery of student-centered, discussion-based teaching methods (e.g., Harkness method, Socratic seminar).
• The Teaching of Literature: A sophisticated approach to literary instruction
• Collaborative Spirit: A willingness to embrace a team-teaching model and coordinate daily with colleagues to align the content of skills of the course.
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills, and the ability to joyfully teach adolescents.
