Job Description
The Substance Abuse Counselor works as part of the multi-disciplinary homeless street outreach team, providing quality care to clients in accordance with Los Angeles Department of Health Services regulations and St. Joseph Center's mission. The E6 MDT Substance Abuse Counselor will use a harm reduction model to help individuals experiencing homelessness access substance abuse resources and supportive services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services, or a related field
- One or more years providing chemical dependency counseling (supervised internship applies)
- Experience working with individuals receiving services for mental health, homelessness, and/or substance use
- Current and active CADAC or CAADE certification
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to use widely supported internet browsers
- Ability to accurately enter data in to L.A. County, and St. Joseph Center databases
