The St. Luke's Physician provides medical services in the general care and treatment of patients in both practice and hospital settings, adhering to standardized orders and practice guidelines, and participating in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Requirements
- Perform history and physical examination of all patients seen
- Provide cost-effective, high-quality care based on best practice evidenced based medicine
- Make best efforts to adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines
- Demonstrate competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated
- Provide regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients, and their families
- Participate in education of patients and their families
- Evaluate and implement patient healthcare needs
- Manage patient treatment program based on assessment of needs
- Initiate treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures
- Review lab results and plan actions according to results
- Perform routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients
- Coordinate patient care and make referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, etc., as needed
- Collaborate and communicate with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care
- Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills
- Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information
- Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow appropriate reporting requirements
