This is a full-time position for a Middle School Math Teacher at Alabama Virtual Academy (ALVA). The teacher will provide instruction, support, and guidance to students in an online environment, working from home with occasional travel required. The ideal candidate will be a state-certified educator with experience in teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment, and be able to maintain a professional home office without distraction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Experience working with proposed age group (desirable)
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology (desirable)
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment (desirable)
- Experience with online learning platforms (desirable)
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions (desirable)
- Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers (desirable)
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes (desirable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint (desirable)
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms (desirable)
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum (desirable)
