Deputy Medical Examiner - Pathologist

The Suffolk County Office of the Medical Examiner is seeking applicants for the position of Deputy Medical Examiner (Forensic Pathologist). The position involves performing postmortem examinations, collecting and reviewing evidence, and communicating with law enforcement and the District Attorney. The office is a multi-agency accredited forensic science resource, striving to improve public health and safety.

Requirements

• Possession of a license to practice medicine in the State of New York
• Valid certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)
• Valid certification by the American Board of Pathology in Forensic Pathology (FP) or completion of twelve (12) months of training in a forensic pathology program
• Thorough knowledge of anatomic and forensic pathology principles and practices
• Good knowledge of general medicine and surgery principles and practices
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking
