An employee in this class performs para-professional work, or assists medical providers in conducting medical examinations of patients in health centers or related health programs. Work includes performing various preliminary medical screenings tests and clerical duties.
Requirements
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience in a position which involved assisting with medical treatment or in the examination of patients, and included the performance of intravenous blood drawing.
- Satisfactory completion of a medical assistant program from a State licensed school; or a school or program accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education;
- Ability to safely draw intravenous blood
- Ability to deal effectively with clients in a courteous and tactful manner
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports; and follow oral and written instructions
