Master

The Master has overriding authority to take required action for the safety and security of the crew, vessel, and environment. They must comply with safety management systems, ensure certification is maintained, and motivate the crew to follow safety protocols.

Requirements

• Periodically reviewing the safety management system
• Maintaining statutory certification
• Motivating the crew to follow safety protocols
• Acting as tug manager and coordinating crew attendance
• Ensuring readiness for operations
• Complying with SVITZER health, safety, environment, and security management systems
• Managing tug crew discipline
• Supervising tug maintenance
• Preparing operational reports
• Participating in safety training and induction training of visitors
• Participating in operational improvement exercises
• Ensuring adequate resources are available for activities onboard
