The Cryocooler Development Test Engineer is responsible for assembling, optimizing, and characterizing the performance of cryocooler production and prototype units, as well as conducting failure analysis and root cause investigations on both prototype and production units.
Requirements
- Designing and building test setups for prototyping, development and production support
- Creating and/or modifying software as needed to run tests
- Performing tests in support of engineering and production, including data analysis, reports, and feedback as requested
- Documentation and interpretation of test results
- Assembly of cryogenic cooler prototypes
- Inspection of cryocooler piece parts and sub-assemblies
- Experimental parameter optimization
- Maintain Equipment Usage Log Sheets, Charts, Schedules, Repair Requisitions & Equipment Operating Instructions
- Root Cause Failure Analysis of prototypes and production coolers including proper documentation
- Documentation for travelers and computer WIP tracking
- Optimization of cooler assembly processes & tooling
- Work with teams including System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Cryocooler Manufacturing to define test and assembly processes
- Provides support to Cryocooler Manufacturing to solve engineering problems related to production or test systems
- Assists Design Engineering during the product development phase to assure a smooth transition to Cryocooler Manufacturing
- Training and support of cryocooler production line technicians
