Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, the Clinical Lab Scientist performs clinical laboratory tests and processes specimens, ensuring validity of test results and adhering to quality control procedures.
Requirements
- Processes samples and performs clinical laboratory tests per physician's request
- Assures validity of test results
- Applies criteria for specimen rejection
- Demonstrates knowledge of Quality Control, calibration and standardization of instruments
- Trouble-shoots instruments and performs routine preventive maintenance
- Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory computer system regarding ordering, reporting and verifying results and downtime computer procedures
- Is familiar with laws and regulations that apply to the laboratory
- Participates in training of new employees
- Utilizes age-specific knowledge when interacting with patient population
- Completes.edu's and other required hospital education by the due date
- Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards
- Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information
- Sets up quality control standardization and calibration procedures
- Executes predefined plans of action in response to quality control and documents actions
- Troubleshoots malfunctioning test systems/instruments
- Performs inventories and maintains reasonable supplies
