Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS)

Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, the Clinical Lab Scientist performs clinical laboratory tests and processes specimens, ensuring validity of test results and adhering to quality control procedures.

Requirements

• Processes samples and performs clinical laboratory tests per physician's request
• Assures validity of test results
• Applies criteria for specimen rejection
• Demonstrates knowledge of Quality Control, calibration and standardization of instruments
• Trouble-shoots instruments and performs routine preventive maintenance
• Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory computer system regarding ordering, reporting and verifying results and downtime computer procedures
• Is familiar with laws and regulations that apply to the laboratory
• Participates in training of new employees
• Utilizes age-specific knowledge when interacting with patient population
• Completes.edu's and other required hospital education by the due date
• Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards
• Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information
• Sets up quality control standardization and calibration procedures
• Executes predefined plans of action in response to quality control and documents actions
• Troubleshoots malfunctioning test systems/instruments
• Performs inventories and maintains reasonable supplies
