Ultrasound Tech

The Ultrasound Technologist performs basic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, assisting in diagnosis or treatment of patients from newborn to elderly.

Requirements

• produces high quality diagnostic sonographs
• evaluates images for technical quality
• practices aseptic techniques
• prepares and administers contrast media
• assists with amnio procedure biopsies
• communicates with patients
• positions patients
• participates in acquisition and dissemination of patient history
• implements protective measures
• provides interpreting physician summary of technical findings
• provides practical instruction and evaluation for students and/or other healthcare professionals
• assumes responsibility for assigned areas
• initiates reports
• demonstrates knowledge in hazards involved in the use of soundwaves
