The Ultrasound Technologist performs basic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, assisting in diagnosis or treatment of patients from newborn to elderly.

- prepares and administers contrast media
- assists with amnio procedure biopsies
- communicates with patients
- positions patients
- participates in acquisition and dissemination of patient history
- implements protective measures
- provides interpreting physician summary of technical findings
- provides practical instruction and evaluation for students and/or other healthcare professionals
- assumes responsibility for assigned areas
- initiates reports
- demonstrates knowledge in hazards involved in the use of soundwaves
