Student Mentor (Outreach&PreCollege CAMP)

Provide peer mentoring to TAMIU CAMP students, perform duties such as meeting individually with students, maintaining records, and developing professional relationships with university staff.

Requirements

• Current TAMIU student with 60 SCH or more at the time of appointment
• Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates
• Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students
• Meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP)
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students and staff
• Ability to motivate students
• Ability to work effectively in teams
• Ability to speak in front of large groups
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
