Who we are
The School of Engineering Medicine in collaboration with Texas A&M College of Engineering, Texas A&M School of Medicine and the state’s top-ranked Houston Methodist Hospital offer an innovative medical school program called ENMED. This program was established to transform healthcare through translational interdisciplinary research, the development of medical technologies, and the development and training of “Physicianeers.” ENMED delivers a revolutionary blended curriculum with focus on innovation and entrepreneurship where students receive a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Engineering degree in the same four years.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Strong publication record in top-tier AI conferences or journals
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- First-author publications at NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, KDD, or IJCAI
- Experience working with large-scale, noisy, or real-world datasets
- Experience with GPU-based training and high-performance computing
- Interest in translating methodological contributions into high-impact medical AI venues (e.g., Nature Medicine, Nature Machine Intelligence, npj Digital Medicine)
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: foundation models, multimodal learning, LLMs, AI agents, or trustworthy AI
- Proficiency in Python and PyTorch
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in artificial intelligence with a focus on health and biomedical applications
- Collaborate with PI interdisciplinary teams on research proposals and contribute to successful grant applications
- Lead AI research projects that result in peer-reviewed publications in top-tier AI conferences and high-impact medical journals
