Music Teacher

The Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated Upper Elementary Music Teacher to provide instruction in instrumental music to students in grades 3-5. The role involves curriculum development, instrumental instruction, performance planning, and collaboration with students and faculty. A background in music education and NY State Standards is essential.

Requirements

• Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for grades 3-5, aligning with New York State Arts Standards.
• Grade 3: Focus on general music education, emphasizing vocal development, music notation, and recorder instruction.
• Grades 4-5: Lead instrumental programs introducing wind, brass, and percussion instruments, building foundational playing techniques and music reading skills.
• Utilize technology and multimedia tools to enhance music instruction.
• Plan and organize student performances, such as recitals and school events.
• Proficiency in playing and teaching band instruments.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to integrate technology into music education effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
