Job Description
The Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Queensland is seeking a Principal Laboratory Scientist to join a collaborative research team. The successful candidate will provide specialist technical expertise, conduct complex laboratory experiments, and contribute to the design and optimisation of research methodologies.
Requirements
- Completion of undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in Microbiology, Molecular Microbiology or Bioinformatics
- Demonstrated expertise in Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing techniques
- Strong understanding of microbiology principles and hands-on competency in wet lab techniques
- Foundational knowledge of bioinformatic analysis
- Proven experience applying a broad range of research techniques
- Ability to train and support junior staff and students
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
