The Melting pourer is responsible for the safe and controlled operation of all Ladle related tasks. This includes inspection and maintenance of the ladle refractory. He/she is responsible for several key tasks in the melting department.
Requirements
- Rebuild Pouring Ladles per procedures for next heat
- Sets the stopper rod in the ladle and checks for fit
- Holds the transfer ladle steady with a long rod while the heat is being tapped from the furnace
- Collects a sample of metal from the ladle to be analyzed by the lab
- Rolls the ladle over to pour the molten metal into the AOD vessel
- Pour molten metal from ladle to molds
- Maintains the condition of the transfer ladle by chipping the solidified slag
- Inspects ladle condition prior to and after use
- Maintains Housekeeping to 6S standards and checklists for areas of responsibility
