
Job description
The Senior Environmental Specialist will work in the Ethiopia CMU, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to provide technical support and oversight to investment projects to meet environmental and social risk management requirements. The role will focus on implementing the World Bank's environmental and social risk management policies and building national systems and capacity in this regard.
The Senior Environmental Specialist will have key responsibilities including ensuring the effective integration of environment, health and safety due diligence into project design and implementation, providing guidance to clients and counterpart organizations, and organizing needs assessments and capacity building for national agencies and local governments.
The role requires a strong background in environmental and social risk management, with experience in implementing the World Bank's environmental and social risk management policies. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and counterpart organizations.
