Job Description
The Geotechnical Engineer will ensure underground operations are geotechnically stable, supervising and managing projects to meet production and income plans, and managing the geotechnical process through monitoring and control of support and fortification.
Requirements
- Geological Engineer, Mining Metallurgist or in Geosciences degree
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the position
- Design of support systems and rock mass fortification
- Geotechnical monitoring of underground mines
- Analysis and classification of rock mass
- Use of geotechnical tools to determine rock quality and terrain stability analysis
- Structural geology mapping and interpretation with a focus on underground works stability
- Quality control of support materials
- Software management: Deswik CAD, Deswik Mapping and the Rocscience package (Dips, Unwedge, Cpillar, RS2 and RS3)
- Project supervision and coordination
- Availability for continuous presence 14 days worked per 8 days of rest
