The IBM i Systems Administrator will be responsible for management, administration, and maintenance of all the power systems and external storage within set constraints and react appropriately to situations.
Requirements
- Administer and maintain IBM i Power systems, including DR systems and external storage.
- Set system performance thresholds and monitor enterprise-level Power systems to maintain performance levels that meet business needs.
- Manage i OS jobs and system messages.
- Control job environment through adjustment of system resources and subsystems.
- Perform backup and restore operations using BRMS.
- Manage system and user security.
- Coordinate system modifications (upgrades, etc) with other groups, such as Engineering, Networking, Customer Support, and Product, to deliver optimum solutions for the business.
- Identify effects of new product offerings on infrastructure and propose design ideas.
- Research latest Power technology developments in order to design, spec, and implement the latest and best available technologies.
- Automate monitoring tasks (functional and performance) - Lead skill building efforts for IBM i and external storage.
- Provide metrics on system performance to clients.
- 24x7 coverage is sometimes required.
