Job Description
The Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) is an individual educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery who has graduated from an ACNM-accredited education program and is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. CNM practice includes the independent management of womens health care, pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, family planning and gynecological services.
Requirements
- Perform direct patient care by examining, diagnosing, and analyzing the needs of female patients in relationship to their reproductive health.
- Develops short and long term patient care goals and treatment for patients in accordance with the standards established for certified nurse-midwives in collaboration with an obstetrician/gynecologist and established protocols.
- Teaches and counsels individuals, families, groups and other health providers about health, diseases and illnesses and promotes health maintenance and prevention of diseases
