The Advanced Practice Provider provides direct patient care, in collaboration with consulting physicians and the multidisciplinary health team, to include identification, management, and/or referral of health problems.
Requirements
- Provide direct patient care and formulate plan of care in collaboration with physician, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary health team
- Communicate follow-up plan/disposition with the follow-up health care provider
- Prescribe and evaluate pharmacological therapies according to protocol
- Attend both high and low risk deliveries as needed
- Initiate CPR and perform therapeutic techniques to stabilize a compromised infant in the delivery room, NICU, emergency room and referring hospitals as needed
- Stabilize and transport patients as needed
- Participate in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care
- Participate in the development, review and evaluation of policies and procedures
- Participate in developing and implementing QI monitoring
- Participate in providing in-service and outreach education program
- Act as resource for clinical skills for staff on or of the unit
- May participate in clinical research projects conducted by supervising physicians
- Serve as preceptor to APP students
- Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization
- Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient’s plan of care
- Has a deep understanding and response to adverse drug reactions, with special attention to vulnerable populations such as infants, children, pregnant and lactating women, or older adults
