The Physician Assistant in the Section of Urology will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, using advanced clinical skills and knowledge to provide assessment, evaluation, testing, treatment, therapies, medical management, and other direct care to patients under the care of the University of Chicago Medicine.
Requirements
- Attends faculty clinics and independently evaluates patients.
- Participates in management decisions.
- Coordinates follow-up care, including imaging/testing, consultations, or surgery.
- Interprets internal/external test results.
- Notifies patients of test results and management plans.
- Opportunity to participate in in-office and same day surgery procedures including prostate biopsies, ablations and cystoscopies.
- Provides clinical trial-related care, questionnaires, and management.
- Works with the nurse to address patient inquiries via email, EPIC, or phone.
- Obtains medical histories and performs physical assessments.
- Establishes independent clinic 2-3 days per week.
- Designs and participates in patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.
- Participates in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care.
- Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with health care colleagues.
- Demonstrates effective use of verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills using strategies that promote problem resolution.
- Keeps knowledge base current by reading professional literature and attending educational conferences.
- Designs patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.
- Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization.
- Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient’s plan of care.
- Performs other related work as needed.
