Job Description
The University of Miami is seeking a Marine Technical Specialist for the Department of RSMAS - Ocean Sciences. Duties include coordinating tasks associated with the design, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of oceanographic instruments and systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Marine Biology, Marine Science, Engineering or a closely related field
- 5 years of related experience in maintenance and operation of oceanographic instrumentation
- Demonstrated experience in leading deck operations for the deployment and recovery of oceanographic moorings
- Experience with maintenance and repair of mechanical systems
- Working knowledge and operation of PC based computer applications
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, electronic test equipment, and basic electrical wiring, soldering, and splicing skills
