The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff, promotes institutional recognition, and contributes to the department's mission by conducting applied research focused on the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions that improve health outcomes in real-world settings.
Requirements
- Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
- Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
- Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
- Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Contribute to the department’s mission by conducting applied research focused on the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions that improve health outcomes in real-world settings.
- Apply and refine implementation science frameworks to public health programs addressing HIV, HCV, substance use disorder and homelessness.
- Participate in interdisciplinary projects that examine how policy, practice, and system-level innovations can reduce health disparities and expand access to care.
- Assist with the development of community-driven evaluation strategies that reflect equity-focused outcomes.
- Collaborate with local organizations, SSPs, and health departments to build research-practice partnerships and translate findings into actionable change.
- Represent the department in community advisory boards, implementation teams, and public health coalitions.
- Support department-wide efforts to secure funding through contribution to grant writing, proposal development, and pilot study design.
- Assist in strategic planning and capacity building for new research initiatives, particularly those related to harm reduction and telehealth-based care.
- Mentor MPH and PhD students through collaborative research, manuscript development, and professional development activities.
- Participate in departmental seminars, teaching opportunities, and implementation science workshops to foster a culture of learning and innovation.
- Support the department’s core educational programs, including the Masters in Public Health (MPH) through residential and online instruction modalities.
- Prepare high-impact manuscripts, briefs, and presentations that translate research into practice for policymakers, practitioners, and public health audiences.
- Contribute to the department’s visibility by presenting at national conferences, engaging in policy dialogues, and participating in research dissemination activities.
