The Pipefitter is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems used in commercial mechanical construction projects.
Requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, spool sheets, and specifications.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe using hand and power tools.
- Layout and install carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and/or PVC piping systems.
- Fit and align pipe accurately before welding or mechanical joining.
- Use supports, hangers, and restraints according to code and specifications.
- Assist welders by prepping pipe and holding alignment during welding.
- Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing on piping systems.
- Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with all applicable codes.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including use of PPE.
- Communicate with supervisors and other trades to coordinate installation.
- Keep tools and equipment in proper working condition.
