Job Description
The Insurance Follow-Up Specialist will review outstanding or denied claims and take appropriate action to ensure timely payment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years in a medical billing office as an Insurance Follow Up Specialist or similar role
- Advanced understanding of insurance billing processes, including appeal and denial processing
- Knowledge of current payor regulations and trends
- Understanding of ICD-10 codes
- Ability to understand and complete a 1500, and other relevant claim forms
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
- Advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or within a team in a fast-paced and stressful environment
- Proficiency in the use of a variety of office equipment including a PC, Windows, MS Office, EMR system, copier, facsimile machine, etc.
