The Energy Engineer oversees and optimizes facility energy use, including forecasting, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with supply contracts. This role supports curtailment events, manages daily energy procurement, and leads capital projects to improve efficiency and sustainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; concentration in electrical engineering preferred.
- Experience in Energy Management.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical engineering, preferably in steel or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong focus on natural gas and proficiency in working with electrical systems including substations, switchgear, transformers and protective relays.
- Hands-on involvement with natural gas infrastructure, including pipeline systems, metering, pressure regulation, and combustion optimization.
- Proven track record of conducting energy audits, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Experience with load forecasting, peak shaving, and curtailment programs (e.g., 5CP, PJM demand response).
- Familiarity with energy procurement, contract administration, and working with utility providers.
- Demonstrated experienced-based problem-solving, communication, coaching and leadership skills.
- Experience with Project Management or TPM.
