Own dimensional requirements from early design through production launch for assigned vehicle systems or commodities, develop and maintain 3D tolerance analysis models, and partner with Design Engineering to influence part geometry and interfaces.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 7-8 years of experience in dimensional engineering, tolerance analysis, or geometric integration within automotive or other high-volume manufacturing environments
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) with demonstrated application on production-intent designs
- Hands-on experience with 1D/3D tolerance analysis tools, such as 3DCS
- Proven experience supporting programs from concept through production launch, including detailed design, DV, PV, and SOP
- Ability to interpret CAD models, engineering drawings, and build strategies to define robust dimensional requirements
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Suppliers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including dimensional root cause analysis and corrective action development
- Ability to clearly communicate technical requirements, risks, and trade-offs to diverse stakeholders
- Solid understanding of manufacturing process capability and material-driven tolerances across common automotive components
- Ability to translate material behavior and process capability into realistic GD&T schemes and tolerance assumptions during design
- Experience assessing supplier manufacturing feasibility and tolerance capability during sourcing and design reviews
