Supports the Viega Machine Shop’s mission of producing precision tooling that supports our manufacturing operations. Sets up and operates computer-controlled and mechanically-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools.
Requirements
- Translate the information from blueprints, sketches, specifications, and CAD/CAM files to the production of precision tools & dies.
- Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces.
- Ability to set up, operate, and conversationally program conventional, manual, and computer-numeric controlled (CNC) machines and equipment.
- File, grind, and adjust parts so that they fit together properly.
- Quality check completed tools and dies to ensure that they meet specifications.
- Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies.
- Works cooperatively with a wide variety of Viega departments and outside vendors.
- Preparing raw materials and tools prior to machining, cutting, or deburring.
