Home Health Aide HHA/CNA

The Home Health Aide (HHA) is a non-exempt employee who provides personal care and services to hospice patients to augment care given by family members or other caregivers.

Requirements

• Performs only those personal care activities contained in a written assignment
• Assists patients with ambulation, feeding, and personal hygiene
• Assists with certain treatments as ordered by the physician, and taught and supervised by the nurse
• Reads and records temperature, pulse, and respiration
• Maintains a safe and healthy environment
• Promotes mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest
• Provides emotional and psychological support to patients, family, and caregivers
• Reports any changes in patient condition or home situation to the VITAS Nurse
