The Digital Asset Specialist is responsible for developing and governing the technology-wide IT Asset Management (ITAM) function and ensuring this aligns with the Agency’s Enterprise Asset Management. This role ensures that Technology hardware assets are managed in a way that maximises value, reduces risk, and supports the Agency’s strategic goals.
Requirements
- Proven experience in developing and managing ITAM strategies, frameworks, and policies, ideally aligned with ITIL 4
- Strong understanding of ITIL 4 principles and their application in asset lifecycle management
- Significant experience in hardware/telecommunications and asset management across complex, large enterprise Digital environments
- Deep knowledge of hardware asset lifecycle processes including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal
- Experience integrating ITAM with IT Service Management tools and Configuration Management Databases
- Proficiency in using data analytics tools to generate insights, forecast demand, and support strategic decisions
- Understanding of IT security standards and sustainability practices related to asset management
- Experience in hardware asset operational vendor management
- Knowledge and experience in the administration of hardware asset services
- Familiarity with tools such as ServiceNow, Snow Software, or other ITAM platforms
- Technology qualification or equivalent experience
- A qualification or working knowledge of IT Service Management (e.g., ITIL)
- Knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori
- Knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public service
