The Principal Gifts Officer identifies, cultivates, solicits, closes, and stewards principal gifts ($1 million+). This role will work closely with senior leadership, faculty, volunteers (e.g., board members), and staff to develop principal gifts opportunities for the Pediatrics and OBGYN areas in support of Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM).
Requirements
- Manages a portfolio of up to 60 significant prospects, at the $5 million or above level, including strategy, cultivation, solicitation and the closing of key gifts.
- Builds and nurtures effective working relationships with faculty, administration, volunteers (e.g., board members) and staff.
- Manages various volunteer initiatives such as events or committees.
- Serves as an effective spokesperson and representative for WCM and for the campaign.
- Works with donor recognition staff to devise, coordinate, and obtain approval for recognition plans and designs
- Collaborates with Corporations and Foundations staff to pursue institutional donors as well as Planned Giving staff to encourage planned gifts from current Principal Gift donors.
- Hires, supervises, and appraises Development Officer, Major Gifts Officer, and/or Development Associate.
