Senior Research Scientist

Plans, organizes, and performs scientific research projects in a particular scientific or academic field. Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.

Requirements

• Serves as specialist in laboratory-specific research methods and equipment
• Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency
• Creates and conducts experiments
• Evaluates experiment results using statistical and multivariate analysis
• Collaborates with industry or academic specialists to apply the results of research and develop new techniques
• Presents ongoing work and findings at conferences and summarizes the nature and methodology of the research
• Provides technical lab support by performing complex laboratory and research related tasks
• Develops and implements standard operating procedures and leads qualification and validation efforts for assays and procedures
• Researches new products, tests, and methods and reports on relative feasibility, quality, and benefits of new developments
• Organizes and presents data sets to the PI and programmatic leadership teams
• Summarizes completed protocols and studies; writes scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation
• Supervises and mentors lab staff and students in the laboratory
• Monitors progress of research projects and coordinates with leadership to stay on budget and schedule and to meet milestones and deliverables
