Assistant Para - Low Incidence (2025-2026 School Year)

Job Title: Asst Para - Low Incidence. Under the direct supervision of the certified classroom teacher, assists students with lesson assignments, provides a safe environment, and performs tasks as identified by Kansas State Department of Education and Wichita Public Schools.

Requirements

• Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
• Provide a safe and healthful environment for students and staff
• Direct activities designed to reinforce concepts for individuals or small groups
• Assist students with individual assignments
• Work with teachers to modify activities to meet individual student's needs
• Assist teachers in collecting data and maintaining records regarding student performance
• Assist in the maintenance of learning centers and instructional materials
• Assist in managing classroom routines and procedures
• Assist in the integration of technology into the classroom
• Provide feedback to students and teachers
• Assist with student engagement with the curriculum
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality of information regarding students and staff information and issues
• Model appropriate behavior for students
• Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize
• Assist in caring for student's medical needs when under supervision of the school nurse or other appropriate professional
• Assist students with basic needs including but not limited to self-care, hygiene, feeding, toileting, diapering, dressing, and physical transfers
• Acquires a minimum of 20 in-service hours annually
• Assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisor
