As a Registered Nurse at William Osler Health System, you will provide quality patient-focused nursing care to patients in the Oncology and Palliative Care Unit. You will practice according to nursing practice expectations, regulatory practice standards, and legislative requirements.
Requirements
- Experience within the last five years in palliative and oncology nursing
- Palliative Care certificate or Certified Hospice Palliative Care Nurse certificate
- Foundation in oncology nursing practice course
- Provincial standardized chemotherapy and biotherapy course
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS required
- Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family-centred care
- Demonstrated experience with patient and family health teaching
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated excellent customer service, organizational and critical-thinking skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment
- Exemplary clinical practice within an inter-professional team
- Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions
- Excellent physical assessment skills
- Ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
