The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans for preschool children aged 2-5 years old, supervising daily routine activities, and maintaining open communication with parents.
Requirements
- Display professionalism in punctuality, mannerisms, and attire
- Develop, present, and evaluate appropriate play-based curriculum lesson plans
- Supervise all classroom and daily routine activities
- Maintain and monitor ongoing parent communication, including email and online parent communication app
- Direct and assist co-teachers in all daily preparation work and cleanup of rooms
- Complete site lesson plan prep work on a rotating basis
- Attend and contribute to monthly lesson plan meetings
- Submit supply requests to the Preschool Supervisor
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with parents and other staff members
- Establish a nurturing relationship with the children in addition to serving as a positive role model
- Treating children in a positive manner that encourages individuality and positive self-esteem
- Responsible for maintaining and updating bulletin boards
- Maintain a minimum of 15 hours of training outside of teaching preschool in one calendar year
- Inform the Preschool Supervisor of any problems, conflicts, or program concerns
- Responsible for keeping class attendance, emergency, medical, and registration forms on file for each child
- Treat public complaints and concerns with the utmost attention and be courteous in all cases
- Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments
- Actively uphold and contribute to the Wilmette Park District Comprehensive and Strategic Plan
- Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals
- Additional duties as assigned
- Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program
- Become familiar with and follow safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions observed to immediate supervisor and Human Resources and Risk Manager
- Attend and participate in required safety trainings
- Review all accident and incident reports that occur under area of responsibility and send them to Human Resources/Risk Management division
