- Guides, assists, and negotiates to satisfactory conclusion important or major purchasing contracts
- Researches and develops competent suppliers of high-quality components
- Reviews and evaluates the relations of purchasing personnel with existing suppliers
- Oversees and participates in the general development of testing and evaluation techniques used to evaluate supplier material and supplier and operations quality
- Oversees and participates in the liaison with other departments regarding technical product changes and problems
- Participates in the development and implementation of systems which measure, track, and analyze supplier and material effectiveness, price, and reliability
- Maintains currency with respect to technical and supervisory skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed
