We are seeking a Disability Inclusion Specialist to join our team in Lilongwe, Malawi. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in disability inclusion, either in meeting the educational needs of children with disabilities or in the rehabilitation and assistive device needs of children with disabilities. A degree in social work, special education, rehabilitation, or inclusive development is required, with a master's degree or advanced qualification desired.
Requirements
- Plan and implement disability-related child protection initiatives
- Provide input into the development and implementation of disability inclusive programming
- Manage a collaborative design process with disability inclusion stakeholders and partners
- Relate and collaborate with relevant departments and sectors on disability integration
- Lead the delivery of technical expertise and support to projects
- Assess the specific needs of children with disabilities
- Develop inclusive child protection programs
- Train staff and community members in disability inclusion and child protection
- Advocate for child rights and disability inclusion
- Network with other institutions and agencies focused on disability and children's rights
- Represent WVM to national and international technical coalitions on disability and child protection issues
- Develop a monitoring, evaluation framework to track program progress
- Facilitate data and knowledge generation to produce valuable insights into the experiences of individuals with disabilities
- Facilitate capacity building and training for programs and staff
- Establish partnerships with disability-focused organizations and government agencies
- Build capacity of communities to take action that produces positive changes locally
