WSP USA is seeking a highly energetic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Northeast Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering Team and work out of our New York, NY office.
Requirements
- Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors, and building owners.
- Lead electrical design for transportation-related facilities, including transit stations, tunnels, and underground structures, roadway and highway facilities, tunnel and station ventilation systems, traction power interfaces, utility power, and emergency power systems.
- Design and coordinate electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding and bonding systems, fire alarm and life-safety systems, and low-voltage systems.
- Prepare and/or review electrical calculations for loads, voltage drop, equipment sizing, grounding touch and step potentials, short circuit study, protective device coordination, arc flash analysis, one-line diagram development, protective relaying, and lighting calculations.
- Develop and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates, construction safety and phasing plans, and updating electrical infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
- Perform Construction Phase Services, including reviewing RFI’s, shop drawings, submittals, field visits, and coordination with contractors.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and technical workshops internally and externally with transportation agencies.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers and contribute to technical quality control.
- Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
