This Opportunity provides technical assistance and guidance for water/wastewater production, treatment and conveyance infrastructure projects. Tasks may include assisting with the analysis, development, and design of water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, conveyance systems, water treatment systems, water/wastewater distribution planning, master planning, treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water/Wastewater or closely related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in water/wastewater engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas.
- Expertise in water/wastewater engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.
- Knowledge of Texas Commission of Environmental Quality regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience either orally or written.
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Demonstrated ability mentoring junior staff in engineering principles and growing them into competent engineers.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
- Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Familiarity with hydraulic modeling (such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, etc.), process modeling (GPS-X, etc), and with ESRI ArcGIS software.
- Experience with coordinating technical matters with public and private groups
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
