Job Description
The Certified Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate coding of procedures and ensuring optimal reimbursement while staying compliant with regulations. They manage charge review and coding-related claim edit work queues, review medical records, and provide education to physicians/providers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of coding experience and certification
- Appropriate Coding Credential (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H)
- RHIA or RHIT certification (preferred)
- Knowledge of CMS rules and regulations (preferred)
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Basic Microsoft Excel and Word knowledge
- Medical billing knowledge
- Analytical and organizational skills
