Direct Support Professional - DSP 1

Direct Support Professional (DSP) needed for Day Habilitation Services in Queens. Assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in acquiring life skills, socialization, and adaptive skills. Opportunities for community inclusion and volunteer work.

Requirements

• Provide direct care services, including counseling, training in ADLs, personal care, medical, dietary, social, sexual, recreational, financial, habilitative, and other needs
• Ensure health, safety, and wellness of people supported
• Maintain a conducive learning environment through progressive teaching style
• Complete timely monthly documentation for regulatory compliance and billing deadlines
• Responsible for day program plans, self-determination, independent activity, and community inclusion
• Collect, record, and report on data for program plans
• Demonstrate strong communication skills, including written and verbal modes
• Complete mandatory trainings and apply learned skills
• Ensure appropriate supervision and understand when to contact an administrator for support
